Initial Ideas for Album Digipak

To come up with a final idea for our album digipak, we crated 3 drafts with different ideas and we then shown them to our focus group on what they like about each one, what should be improved and which one we should go for.

1) Our first idea was that we show on the cover of the album the singer staring straight into the camera with a crown on her head and the crown is in colour while the rest is in black and white. It will have the album name, Revival, at the top in pure white colour and it will be similar to these type of fonts:

We would be using this type of font on any album design we decide to use. Inside the panel, there will be a close up image of the girl who is tilting her head upwards with her eyes closed and her crown loosely placed on the back of her head and we will have a line from the song we have chosen written beside her. The CD cover will have birds drawn on it but only on half of the whole panel. The back cover will have her songs written on it from the album and it will have an image of only half the crown.

2) Our second idea was that on our album cover, we would have a close up shot of a detailed butterfly which would be in bright colours and again, the album name at the top of the cover. On the inside panel, we thought we should have a picture of the singer on there so we thought about taking a mid close up shot of the singers back with her hair cascading down her back while she is looking straight ahead at the scenery. On the CD panel, we decided to keep it simple and just have the album name curving round half way the CD with her name on the bottom half. On the back panel, we chose to have the butterfly flying away in the corner of the picture while all of her song names are written down in a list.

3) For our third idea, we first created the idea of on the front cover, we would have a rose on the front with petals falling. On the back would just be the song list and scattered petals. On the two inside panels, we would have an extreme close up shot of one rose, one in black and white and the other in red.

We then developed this idea and instead of just having a rose on the front cover, we had the idea of showing a dead rose forming into a live one while petals are falling. The back panel would be a pile of petals and the inside panel would be a picture of our actress holding a rose up to her face. The inside panel would just have the album name and singer on the disk.
