We have since changed our music video idea to some of it being a narrative but most shots filled with li-syncing. The audience feedback below is for the original idea but is useful information for our new idea too.
Audience Feedback
- Shoot more footage than you think you need
- Make sure your actor and actress throw themselves into their roles as it is a narrative and there is a lot of emotion involved - if they hold back, it will impact the quality of the video
- Make sure the lead performer knows the lyrics really well
- Instruct actors to bring different changes of clothes so you can show that the male characters substance abuse has gotten worse over time.
- Avoid repeating the same shot
- Liked the part on the animated storyboard where you see her walking out of the door and it flashes three times to the beat of the music
- Likes how we thought carefully about our location
- Shown initiative
- The narrative works with the lyrics and is in sync
- The audience understands what is going on in the video
- They like the whole narrative idea
- It can be quite predictable
- Like the comparison on the digipak with her previous albums
- Liked how we built brand identity about the artist
- Try to make it more unique
- The ending shot with the bottle is a good idea
- Look back at other videos from your conventions and see how they use repetitive shots
- Film actress singing in all of your locations
